Shoes for Bunions

Bunions reshape the foot. Most shoes were not designed with that in mind. Orthofeet’s bunion shoes are built to fit the foot as it actually is: a wide toe box gives the bunion room without compression, soft stretchable uppers conform to the bump rather than pressing against it, and adjustable closures allow a customized fit around the affected joint. Arch support and advanced cushioning round out a construction built for lasting daily comfort. Available in wide and extra-wide widths, backed by a 60-day wear test.

  • There are a few techniques you can use to stretch your shoes

    • Find a shoemaker or shoe repair shop.
    • Purchase a shoe stretching tool.
    • If the shoes are made of leather, you can apply heat with a hair dryer while you're wearing your shoes.
    • Mix 50% water with 50% rubbing alcohol, spray your shoes then wear them immediately.
    • Insert potatoes, wet newspapers or a sealed bag of ice into your shoe until they stretch.
  • Our customer service team is available to help with any questions or concerns regarding your Orthofeet® wide shoes for men. You can contact us via our website, email, or phone for prompt and friendly assistance.
  • For overall foot health, it's important to find shoes that fit well and provide adequate support for the foot. Instead of sizing up, it is recommended to look for shoes with a wider toe box and in wider widths, to provide more space for the bunion.
  • While running shoes themselves do not cause bunions, wearing the wrong type of running shoes, such as shoes with significant heel drop, or ill-fitting shoes can lead to bunions overtime, or exacerbate existing bunions

Bunion Shoes Designed to Work with Your Foot

A bunion, or hallux valgus, forms when the big toe joint shifts out of alignment, creating the characteristic bony prominence on the inner side of the foot. Standard shoe construction does not account for this: toe boxes that are too narrow press against the bump, rigid uppers create friction with every step, and the result is a shoe that makes an already sensitive area harder to manage through the day. Orthofeet bunion shoes take a fundamentally different approach. Instead of forcing the foot into a conventional silhouette, each pair is built to accommodate the foot’s actual shape, with generous space where the bunion lives, materials that yield to it rather than resist it, and a fit system designed to protect the most sensitive areas from the pressure and friction that standard shoes routinely create.

Key Features That Protect Bunion-Affected Feet

Every Orthofeet bunion shoe is engineered around the specific requirements of the bunion-affected foot. A wide, roomy toe box removes compression from the bunion and surrounding toes, eliminating the primary source of friction and irritation during daily wear. Soft, stretchable uppers are built to conform to the contours of the bunion bump rather than pushing against it, adapting to the unique shape of the foot without creating pressure points. Adjustable closures allow the fit to be customized around the affected joint throughout the day, accommodating changes in swelling from morning to evening. Anatomical arch support and Arch Booster technology reduce the forefoot forces that can contribute to bunion discomfort over time, while seamless padded interior construction protects sensitive skin. Extra-depth construction provides additional volume for feet that have changed shape, removable insoles accommodate custom orthotics, and wide and extra-wide widths ensure a non-compressive fit.

    Why Choose Orthofeet Bunion Shoes

Orthofeet has more than 40 years of experience developing orthopedic footwear that podiatrists recommend and people with difficult-to-fit feet depend on. Our bunion shoes are available across a wide range of styles for both men and women: casual, athletic, dress, work, and more, all built on the same orthopedic platform with the same bunion-specific construction. Try any pair with confidence on our 60-day wear test. If they are not the most comfortable bunion shoes you have worn, return them for a full refund.
