Our Story: 40 Years of Comfort Innovation

Orthofeet began with a personal journey of resilience and invention. In 1973, Ron Bar, serving as a soldier, lost his leg in combat. Through the challenges of recovery, he realized firsthand how inadequate and uncomfortable orthopedic solutions were for those with mobility issues. That experience sparked a lifelong mission to help others move more freely and live more fully.

Armed with a PhD in biomedical engineering, Ron, along with his brother Michael, a mechanical engineer, founded Orthofeet in 1984. They started by revolutionizing orthotic manufacturing with breakthrough anatomical mold-making. For 16 years, their focus was on helping podiatry patients, until they saw a bigger gap: comfortable, healthy footwear for everyone.

In 2000, Orthofeet launched its first footwear collection, combining orthopedic expertise with real-world style. For the first time, people could buy podiatrist-recommended shoes that actually felt good and looked good, with no trade-off between health and how you want to live. Our direct-to-consumer website opened in 2015, making expert-designed comfort accessible to all. Today, Orthofeet is the world’s leading ortho-comfort footwear brand, serving millions across the globe.
