FAQs
  • Orthofeet® orthopedic footwear features our Ortho-Cushion System™ with premium orthotic insoles that properly align the foot and reduce overpronation to help alleviate pain.

The soft, seam-free interior eliminates pressure points and abrasion, offering superior protection for sensitive feet.

The cushioning, ergonomic sole is engineered with a mild rocker that reduces impact and improves the ease of walking.

A wide toe box with extra depth ensures a comfortable fit and extra room for toes. Plus ample space for wider feet or custom orthotics.

Stretchable, non-binding uppers offered in many of Orthofeet® shoes eliminate pressure on bunions, hammertoes, and sensitive feet.

  • Orthopedic shoes are offered by specialty brands that meticulously design shoes with special features that comfort, support & provide protection for all day wear. Orthopedic shoes can be worn by anyone! Whether you just want to feel great on your feet or have a foot condition, deformity or injury that requires unique features to treat symptoms and offer pain relief, orthopedic shoes will do amazing things for you.

You can find orthopedic shoes for almost any ailment, helping conditions such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, diabetes, back pain, and so on. Orthopedic shoes come in all forms, some with only one or two features, while others are designed from top to bottom with innovative elements that offer the utmost protection for even severe conditions.

  • Orthopedic shoes are ones that have been carefully and thoughtfully designed with the foot structure in mind, its motion and how it functions with the rest of the body. Orthopedic shoes have many features that are not found in regular footwear. You don’t have to have a foot problem in order to wear orthopedic shoes, but you will greatly benefit from them. Some orthopedic shoes cater to particular conditions, others work well for several and then there are some that just create the best environment for your foot to be in. The more issues you have with your feet, the more features your orthopedic shoes will have.

Orthopedic shoes generally have these features:

    • Premium orthotic insole props the arch, prevents overpronation, and absorbs shock impacts as you walk.
    • Soft interior: smooth and seam free to offer gentle contact with sensitive skin & prevent irritation and friction.
    • Ergonomic sole: rocker bottom design easily moves the foot from heel strike to toe lift with little effort.
    • Wide toe box & wide widths: provides ample room for the toes to move around, bone protrusions and swelling.
    • Motion control: firm heel counter to control heel motion and prevent excessive pronation.
    • Extra depth & removable footbed: frees up space for a custom device and allows it to sit comfortably without feeling too tight.
  • The difference between orthotic and orthopedic shoes is not always obvious since the words “orthotic” and “orthopedic” are often times used interchangeably. Orthotic shoes are ones designed with some form of an orthotic insole which refers to a footbed with arch support and cushioning. Orthopedic shoes take it a few steps further and have many other features that promote a healthy foot environment and cater to various conditions. You will find many different types of orthopedic shoes designed for specific feet, conditions, injuries and pain.

Orthopedic shoes are specially designed to align the feet and ankles which prevents or alleviates pain in the lower extremities and back. Orthopedic shoes can also accommodate for your foot’s unique needs such as providing room for bunions and hammertoes or being compatible with custom orthotics. Orthopedic shoes are also usually available in multiple widths ranging from narrow widths to very wide such as 6E.

  • The best shoes to wear with orthotics are those that are designed to accommodate one! Orthotics come in all shapes, sizes and thicknesses and usually require plenty of space within the shoe. Shoes that have a footbed that can be pulled out, extra depth from the heel to toe, and a wide, round and tall toe box are ideal and can comfortably accommodate a custom device & brace. A wide width shoe is also recommended.
